VOCs Treatment Technologies

Description

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are organic chemicals that have melting points lower than the ambient temperature and boiling points within the range of 50~260 °C (122 ~500 °F). VOCs are often highly volatile, odorous, irritating, and sometimes toxic, not only polluting the environment, but also causing harm to human health. JET’s VOCs treatment solutions include oil vapor recovery technology, odorous VOCs treatment technology, and wastewater VOCs treatment technology.

• Oil Vapor Recovery Technology

Activated Carbon (AC) beds are used to adsorb oil vapor, and VOCs-loaded AC beds are regenerated under vacuum. Desorbed oil vapor is then absorbed by the absorbent, which is usually the same hydrocarbon, in the absorption column. The tail gas from the absorption column returns to the AC beds.

• Odorous VOCs Treatment Technology

Odorous VOCs such as H2S-containing vent gas from some storage tanks in refineries are collected and incinerated to SO2, H2O and CO2. After incineration, the flue gas is treated in the ammonia desulfurization unit to produce ammonium sulfate fertilizer. Odorous VOCs can also be combined with Claus tail gas before incineration. The incineration unit can be a thermal incinerator or a regenerative thermal oxidizer (RTO).

• Wastewater VOCs Treatment Technology

Low-concentration VOC stream from the wastewater treatment plant is concentrated in a rotor concentrator before being combined with the high-concentration VOC streams. The combined stream is then sent to the incineration and waste heat recovery system. Gaseous methane generated from anaerobic fermentation in the wastewater treatment plant is used as fuel for the incinerator. A portion of the clean gas from the waste heat boiler is fed to the adsorption-desorption system as a regeneration medium, and the rest is combined with the tail gas from the adsorption-desorption system prior to discharge from the stack.
