On August 21, 2022, China Electricity Enterprises Council held the technical appraising meeting for JNG’s independently developed “Integrated Ammonia-based Desulfurization and Decarbonization (ADSC) pilot project with ammonia sulfate and ammonia bicarbonate as by-products” at Ningbo, China. The appraisal committee made a site visit to the pilot project and reviewed the project report, technical report, novelty verification report, customer report, research on application prospect report and other technical document. After inquiries, Q&A and discussion, the appraisal opinions are as follows：
- The information and data provided for the appraisal are complete and meet all requirements.
- Through laboratory and industrial experiments, JNG has successfully developed the integrated ammonia-based desulfurization and decarbonization technology with ammonia sulfate and ammonia bicarbonate as by-products and, at the same time, solved the problem of ammonia slip during decarbonization process. The innovation of the project are as follows:
1 ) Developed the integrated ammonia-based desulfurization and decarbonization technology with ammonia sulfate and ammonia carbonate as by-products. Decarbonization efficiency is equal to or more than 70%
2 ) Solved the ammonia slip problem in the ammonia-based decarbonization process. Developed the control technology for ammonia slip with emission index stably controlled at less than 3mg/Nm3
3 ) Developed fertilizer process for ammonium sulfate and ammonium bicarbonate as by-products of desulfurization and decarbonization technology. Achieved the continuous and steady production of fertilizers as by-products. The ammonia sulfate and ammonia bicarbonate satisfy all the related national standards
- The above technology has obtained 23 authorized patents in China and set the enterprise standard, Q/JNHB 002-2022 <<General technical specifications for integrated ammonia-based desulfurization and decarbonization projects>>. With advanced technical performance and outstanding economic benefit, the above technology protects the environment, at the same time turns the waste into valuables, and truly embodies the concept of circular economy.
The appraisal committee unanimously agreed that the achievement of this project reached the international leading level. We suggest promoting the applications which will provide a strong technical support for China’s carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals.
